The George Inn, Oakham – Luxury Private Cinema
As part of a wider refurbishment project at The George Inn in Oakham, our client was looking to add a cinema for use by the boutique hotel’s guests. They wanted to have the most visually striking experience, coupled with an audio solution as close to that experienced in a commercial cinema but in a more restricted, private space.
Whilst the room was a generous size, due to a restricted ceiling height and the required three rows of seating, careful planning of the tiered seating was necessary. The client also requested a wall-to-wall screen at the front of the cinema, and with the projector placement in relation to the seating and the sight lines that produced, screen size selection and format was very important.
Having been lucky enough to install Artcoustic for previous premium cinema projects, the high level requirements for this design paired perfectly with the performance levels Artcoustic offered. Careful surveying of the room at the initial stages of the project allowed us to develop a full Dolby Atmos 9.2.6 sound stage to meet the client’s expectations. Once the room layout was locked in room calculations were made to make sure that the right speaker selection was made, including detailed bass considerations to make sure placement and level of the speakers was right.
Taking the client’s room design the sound stage was layered over it to help the client make minor tweaks to the room design to optimise speaker layout and baffle wall construction. The 3D renders produced also helped the client decide on a particular design element that altered the seating positions, and ultimately the whole speaker layout. Post installation we performed a thorough room calibration, making sure the sound was optimal to the layout.
Overall this project has been a great success and has been very well received by guests and the public alike, and if you would like to experience the cinema experience for yourself then please see the link below for bookings:
